Class Visits
A class visit to the Library is a great start to any child’s reading career. For many children, these visits serve as an introduction to the public library and provide them with their first opportunity to get a library card. A visit to the library provides students with an excellent introduction to the tremendous range of resources and services that we have to offer. Class visits can be tailored to your class and curriculum needs.
Please contact the Library at least 2 weeks in advance to arrange your visit so we can be sure staff are available. If students are under the age of 12, please find out how many will need library cards and make registration arrangements prior to your visit with circulation staff. A package of forms for registration will be prepared for you to pick up at the library.
Registration forms must be signed by the parent or legal guardian and returned to the library for processing one week before the scheduled visit. Students will receive their library cards on the day of the visit. As class visits include an opportunity for students to borrow materials, it is important they have their own library cards. A first time card is free, and a replacement card is $3.
Older students (12+) should be encouraged to visit the library to obtain a card prior to your class visit.
