Genealogy Database

The Genealogy Database is an index of names from local sources, such as Birth, Death and Marriage announcements from the local paper, and names that appear in local books. The index currently has over 112,000 entries. Search a name to see recorded instances where it appears in our collection.

One common search is for an obituary, and if you search a name and it provides a result, it would have the Classification “D” and the Source would likely be the Welland Tribune, and it would also give you the date and page number. You can then come to the Main Branch to view it on our microfilm, or you can email us a request to find it for you and send you the image.
