Poetry Month Contest: Just for Kids!

April 4, 2017 in Main News

National Poetry Month was established by the League of Canadian Poets (LCP) in 1998. Since then, LCP has worked hard to popularize poetry as an art form by creating partnerships and programs across Canada that inspire people of all ages to read, create, and discover all things poetry.

The Welland Public Library wants to do the same by inviting kids to define poetry your way. Use your creativity and imagination! Can a photograph or a dance define poetry?  Or does poetry have to be words on a page? Photography, film, a short literary work – all will be accepted. Please include a one paragraph description on how your piece defines poetry.

Send submissions in as an image/video or PDF document to dliebregts@wellandlibrary.ca

Submissions will be accepted from April 1-29.
